Thank you
Congratulations to everyone for a very successful BBQ & Boot Scoot event last night. I thank Lani Gore, the Event Planning team, parish staff, and everyone who helped in the planning. I thank the team for their personal sacrifices and the giving of their time, talents, and treasures that made the event very successful. Thanks also to the individuals, families and organizations that supported the event with donations. The proceeds from the event will go toward our new Church construction.
End of the Liturgical Year
The celebration of Mass this weekend will mark the end of the Liturgical Year C. Next weekend we will begin the new Liturgical Year A, which also marks the beginning of the Season of Advent in preparation for Christmas. The Church dedicates the last Sunday of every liturgical year to the guidance of Jesus Christ, known as “Christ the King.” This is a reminder that God has control over the beginning and end of all things in heaven and on earth, the Alpha and Omega.
Happy Thanksgiving
“What are we thankful for this year?” This question is asked by many families on Thanksgiving Day as they gather around the dining table to share the meal. Personally, prominent among my long list of “Thank yous” to God for His blessings is my gratitude for beginning the construction of our permanent worship place this year. I pray that God will continue to provide for all our parishioners and friends of our parish as they support the mission of the Church.
To me, the best way to show that we are truly thankful to God on Thanksgiving Day is to begin the day with a prayer of thanksgiving to God. I encourage all our parishioners to invite their family members, friends and neighbors to our Thanksgiving Mass on Thursday next week at 9 am in the SJB MPR.
We will continue with our tradition of “Bread Exchange” this year. You are invited to bake or bring your loaf of bread for a special blessing during the Mass. We suggest you take a different loaf of bread home at the end of the Mass.
Construction Update From the Building Committee
Concrete was poured at the lower level of the Sanctuary, which allowed the mason to begin their work in that area.
The mason continues to progress extremely well. The bell tower is 16 feet away from reaching the top of the tower. In addition, work continues on the south side arches and the north side entry. Also, the Sanctuary area is beginning to rise out of the ground.
Three weeks ago, we had a challenge with the mechanical (A/C) subcontractor. The company had to be replaced. The general contractor went back out for bids and a new subcontractor has been selected. The contract will be signed today and the sub will be onsite on Monday. We are analyzing the potential impact on the schedule and the cost. The general contractor will be addressing a breach of contract towards the original subcontractor.
