Welcome to the Holy Week
Welcome to the Holy Week beginning with the celebration of Palm Sunday this weekend and ending with the Easter Vigil on Saturday, April 19th. Holy Week is the peak of the Churches’ Liturgical Calendar and the most important week for us Catholics. Although not required, we are encouraged to observe Holy Week like a week of personal retreat as we journey with the Lord through His life, passion, death, and resurrection. Here are the Liturgical services during the Holy Week:
Palm Sunday. Given the beautiful weather in the mornings this year, we will start the 9am and 11am Masses outside on the north side of the Church and have a Solemn Entrance procession into the Church. Palms will be provided as you enter the Church doors.
Holy Thursday. The celebration of the Lord’s Supper will take place at 7pm here in our Church. We will have the “Washing of Feet” during the Mass. We will also have Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament at the end of the Mass at the Altar of Repose in the Chapel until 12 midnight.
Good Friday. We have several Liturgical services and prayers throughout the day:
- The Chaplet of Divine Mercy at 11am,
- Seven Last Words at 12 noon.
- Living Stations of the Cross at 3pm.
- Confession at 5pm
- The Passion of the Lord will be celebrated at 7pm. This is the only day in the year that Mass is not celebrated in the Catholic Church. Good Friday is also a day of fasting. Please note: Catholics between the age of 18-60 who are not sick or under any medication are encouraged to observe some form of fasting on Good Friday. Everyone is required to abstain from eating meat on Good Friday.
Holy Saturday.
- Confession at 8am
- We will have the Blessing of the Baskets at 12pm in the Church
- Divine Mercy Prayer at 3pm
- Easter Vigil Liturgy at 8:00pm. We will begin the Mass with the lighting of Easter Fire outside on the north side of the Church, followed by a procession into Church for the Vigil Mass. We will have several Baptisms and Confirmations for our Catechumens in the OCIA program.
Please Note! There will be no daily morning Mass on Holy Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Please check the “Upcoming Events” below for the times for the Easter Sunday Masses and other activities on Easter Sunday.
Bienvenidos a Semana Santa
Bienvenidos a Semana Santa, que comienza con la celebración del Domingo de Ramos este fin de semana y culmina con la Vigilia Pascual el sábado 20 de abril. La Semana Santa es el punto culminante del Calendario Litúrgico de la Iglesia y la semana más importante para nosotros los católicos. Aunque no es obligatorio, se nos anima a vivir esta semana como un retiro personal, acompañando al Señor en su vida, pasión, muerte y resurrección. A continuación, compartimos los servicios litúrgicos durante la Semana Santa:
Domingo de Ramos
Dado el hermoso clima matutino de este año, comenzaremos las Misas de las 9 a.m. y 11 a.m. afuera, en el lado norte de la Iglesia, con una procesión solemne de entrada al templo. Las palmas serán distribuidas a la entrada de la Iglesia.
Jueves Santo
La celebración de la Cena del Señor se llevará a cabo a las 7 p.m. en nuestra Iglesia. Tendremos el "Lavatorio de los Pies" durante la Misa. Al finalizar, se realizará la Adoración del Santísimo Sacramento en el “Altar de Reposición” en la Capilla, hasta la medianoche.
Viernes Santo
Tendremos varios servicios litúrgicos y momentos de oración durante el día:
- Coronilla de la Divina Misericordia a las 11 a.m.
- Las Siete Palabras a las 12 del mediodía
- Viacrucis Viviente a las 3 p.m.
- Confesiones a las 5 p.m.
- La Celebración de la Pasión del Señor será a las 7 p.m.
Este es el único día del año en que no se celebra la Misa en la Iglesia Católica. El Viernes Santo también es día de ayuno. Nota: los católicos entre 18 y 60 años que no estén enfermos ni bajo tratamiento médico están invitados a observar algún tipo de ayuno. Todos los católicos están obligados a abstenerse de comer carne ese día.
Sábado Santo
- Confesiones a las 8 a.m.
- Bendición de canastas de Pascua a las 12 p.m. en la Iglesia
- Coronilla de la Divina Misericordia a las 3 p.m.
- Vigilia Pascual a las 8:00 p.m.
Comenzaremos la Misa con el encendido del Fuego Pascual afuera, en el lado norte de la Iglesia, seguido por la procesión hacia el interior para la Misa de Vigilia. Tendremos varios Bautizos y Confirmaciones para los catecúmenos del programa OCIA.
¡Nota Importante!
No habrá Misa diaria por la mañana el Jueves, Viernes ni Sábado Santo. Favor de revisar la sección de “Próximos Eventos” para conocer los horarios de las Misas del Domingo de Pascua y otras actividades ese día.
