Dear Brethren,

Happy New year!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Years celebration. It is our prayer that assisted by the maternal intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God and mother of the Church, we shall have a prosperous 2026, in good health of mind and body.

While we thank God for the blessings received in 2025 and previous years, let us endeavor to recommit ourselves to the love of God which aided by His grace we shall be able to demonstrate more concretely through love of neighbor.

In the recent past, here at St Benedict, we have dedicated a lot of commendable efforts to building a magnificent dwelling place for God where we can meet and together worship Him, and from here impact our community positively. The result of our sacrifice and effort is visible in the beautiful Church building we were able to dedicate to God on January 20th 2024. To everyone who donated, served and made sacrifices for this Church, we want you to know that you are highly appreciated and we pray that God bless you in numerous ways and beyond measure. 

Now that we have an amazing sacred space for worship and prayer, it is time to build the real Church, the Holy people of God who know Him, love Him and serve Him in truth and in Spirit (JN 4:24). The best way to do this is to be intentional about deepening our knowledge of God and allowing this knowledge of Him to be the foundation from which all relationships, with God and with everyone else springs. We should commit to being disciples by consciously seeking to be with and to listen to Him. We should give more time to adoration of Jesus in the Eucharist, to benediction and meditation. God speaks in the gentleness of silence. (cf 1 Kings 19:11-13). “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” Psalm 46:10.

We would like to use the opportunity to invite you to our parish monthly Adoration of the Eucharist and Benediction every First Friday of the Month. As I write, this month’s Adoration is going on in the chapel and shall be concluded with Benediction at 5:50pm during which we shall pray Vespers, the liturgical evening prayer of the Church. We would love to have you join your brothers and sisters at prayer.

In addition to deepening our relationship with God through prayer, we can grow our Church through service by volunteering in one or more ministries of service at St Benedict. All are invited to hear the voice of Jesus in their heart, calling you to serve Him in your faith community. The path to Christian maturity necessarily passes through service to God, community and humanity.

May God set aflame our hearts with a Spirit of revival and may we be blessed with a prosperous and happy new year.

¡Feliz Año Nuevo!

Espero que todos hayan tenido una maravillosa celebración de Navidad y Año Nuevo. Es nuestra oración que, con la intercesión maternal de la Santísima Virgen María, Madre de Dios y Madre de la Iglesia, tengamos un próspero 2026, con buena salud mental y física.

Mientras damos gracias a Dios por las bendiciones recibidas en 2025 y en años anteriores, esforcémonos por renovar nuestro compromiso con el amor de Dios, que con la ayuda de Su gracia podremos demostrar de manera más concreta a través del amor al prójimo.

En el pasado reciente, aquí en San Benito, hemos dedicado muchos esfuerzos encomiables a construir una magnífica morada para Dios, donde podamos reunirnos y adorarlo juntos, y desde aquí influir positivamente en nuestra comunidad. El resultado de nuestro sacrificio y esfuerzo es visible en el hermoso edificio de la iglesia que pudimos dedicar a Dios el 20 de enero de 2024. A todos los que han donado, servido y hecho sacrificios por esta iglesia, queremos que sepan que les estamos muy agradecidos y rezamos para que Dios les bendiga de muchas maneras y sin medida.

Ahora que tenemos un espacio sagrado increíble para el culto y la oración, es el momento de construir la verdadera Iglesia, el pueblo santo de Dios que le conoce, le ama y le sirve en verdad y en Espíritu (Jn 4, 24). La mejor manera de hacerlo es profundizar intencionadamente en nuestro conocimiento de Dios y permitir que este conocimiento sea la base de la que broten todas las relaciones, con Dios y con los demás. Debemos comprometernos a ser discípulos buscando conscientemente estar con Él y escucharle. Debemos dedicar más tiempo a la adoración de Jesús en la Eucaristía, a la bendición y a la meditación. Dios habla en la suavidad del silencio (cf. 1 Reyes 19, 11-13). «Quédate quieto y reconoce que yo soy Dios; seré exaltado entre las naciones, seré exaltado en la tierra» (Salmo 46, 10).

Nos gustaría aprovechar la oportunidad para invitarles a nuestra Adoración Eucarística mensual y Bendición de la parroquia, que tiene lugar cada primer viernes del mes. Mientras escribo, la Adoración de este mes se está celebrando en la capilla y concluirá con la Bendición a las 5:50 p. m., durante la cual rezaremos las Vísperas, la oración litúrgica vespertina de la Iglesia. Nos encantaría que se unieran a sus hermanos y hermanas en la oración.

Además de profundizar nuestra relación con Dios a través de la oración, podemos hacer crecer nuestra Iglesia a través del servicio, participando como voluntarios en uno o más ministerios de servicio en San Benito. Todos están invitados a escuchar la voz de Jesús en su corazón, que los llama a servirlo en su comunidad de fe. El camino hacia la madurez cristiana pasa necesariamente por el servicio a Dios, a la comunidad y a la humanidad.

Que Dios encienda nuestros corazones con un espíritu de renacimiento y que seamos bendecidos con un próspero y feliz año nuevo.
