Dear Brethren,
The Lenten Season is upon us. On Ash Wednesday, we begin the journey and enter into a period of preparation to celebrate the Christ's Resurrection at Easter. I invite you to seek the Lord in prayer by reading Sacred Scripture, to serve by giving alms, and to practice self-control through fasting. Just as we are called to abstain from luxuries during Lent, we are also called to a true inner conversion of heart as we seek to follow Christ's will more faithfully.
May Lent truly be a time for repentance, reflection, and spiritual discipline so that we can draw closer to God. At St. Benedict, there are many opportunities to experience Lent in a meaningful way. There are several masses and a service on Ash Wednesday, Stations of the Cross on Fridays and a full schedule for Holy Week. I look forward to taking this journey with all of you.

Queridos hermanos,
La Cuaresma está a punto de comenzar. El Miércoles de Ceniza comenzamos el camino y entramos en un período de preparación para celebrar la resurrección de Cristo en Pascua. Les invito a buscar al Señor en la oración mediante la lectura de las Sagradas Escrituras, a servir dando limosna y a practicar el autocontrol mediante el ayuno. Así como estamos llamados a abstenernos de los lujos durante la Cuaresma, también estamos llamados a una verdadera conversión interior del corazón mientras buscamos seguir la voluntad de Cristo con mayor fidelidad.
Que la Cuaresma sea verdaderamente un tiempo de arrepentimiento, reflexión y disciplina espiritual para que podamos acercarnos más a Dios. En San Benito hay muchas oportunidades para vivir la Cuaresma de manera significativa. Hay varias misas y un servicio el Miércoles de Ceniza, el Vía Crucis los viernes y un programa completo para la Semana Santa. Espero con ilusión emprender este camino con todos ustedes.

Parish Picnic
The Parish Picnic is this Sunday, February 15 from 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm at Desert Breeze Park (at the south Ramadas). Get ready for lawn games, music, plus free hamburgers and hotdogs! It's a fun time for everyone. Bring a picnic blanket and chairs to relax! RSVP now by clicking here.

Ash Wednesday is the start of Lent, the time when we prepare ourselves for Easter.
Schedule of Masses and a Service:
6:30 am - Mass
8:15 am - Mass
12:00 pm - Service with Ashes
5:00 pm - Mass
7:00 pm - Mass (Bilingual)

Stations of the Cross and Fish Fry
On Fridays, during Lent, we have the Stations of the Cross in English at 6 pm, and Stations of the Cross in Spanish at 7 pm in the church, beginning on Friday, February 20. Between 6:30 and 7:30 pm our Events Committee is hosting a Fish Fry in Annex 3. You get 2 pieces of fish, coleslaw, chips, dessert and water for $10 a plate which benefits the church. All are welcome to observe the Stations and the Fish Fry each Friday during Lent.
Rummage Sale
We hope you are saving the good stuff from your spring cleaning for our parish Rummage Sale!
When: Saturday, March 7 from 7 am to 1 pm.
Donation Drop-Off: Annex 2 before and after all weekend Masses, ongoing until March 1

Not Accepted: Mattresses, tube/older TVs, car seats, China hutches, large appliances, broken or stained items, large Christmas trees.
