Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia. Happy Easter!
We are grateful to God for the blessing of yet another season of Easter, a time when we celebrate the triumph of our Lord over death. A victory that paved a path for us to be reconciled with God our loving Father and restored us to righteousness. It was the resurrection of Jesus and His numerous appearance to several of His disciples that gave them hope, emboldened them to regroup and recommit themselves to the fearless and joyful proclamation of the Gospel after receiving the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. Like the early Church, we pray that the transformative power of the resurrection will reactivate in us the fire of the Holy Spirit. May it urge us towards fulfilling the basic mandate handed on to us by Christ through the Apostles to go into the world and make disciples of all nations. If our faith has waned or has endured lukewarmness in the recent past, may our faith experience a radical revival that is brought about by the transformative power of the resurrection. Please invite someone to Church as an invitation from you may be what is needed for the work being done already by the Holy Spirit to be activated in a brother or sister.
We are also extremely grateful to all our ministries and volunteers who worked, both behind the scenes and in public view to see that our amazing parish had a memorable celebration of the Triduum. Your parish would like you to know that the wonderful Easter experience we had would have been less memorable without your kind help. If you met someone who came to St. Benedict for the first time or for the first time after a while, please invite them back and encourage them to respond to the needs of our beloved St. Benedict Parish by volunteering to one or more ministries of their choice. If you were visiting our parish, we would like you to know that we felt blessed by your presence and we would like to welcome you again and again.
Following Easter Sunday is the feast of Divine Mercy which since the year 2000 is celebrated on the second Sunday of Easter to complete the Octave of Easter. We know that Easter is the Greatest feast in the Christian calendar. For this reason, Easter is celebrated for 8 straight days with the Octave completed with the celebration of Divine Mercy Sunday. This feast was decreed onto the Liturgical calendar by St. Pope John Paul II on March 30, 2000 at the canonisation of St. Faustina Kowalska, a Polish Nun who received extraordinary revelations from the Lord about His Mercy. In one of the messages, Jesus promised that on this Sunday “The soul that will go to confession and receive Holy Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment.” On this day, the Church invites us to reflect on the immensity of the mercy of God, seek it and learn to be merciful to others through our words, thoughts and actions. I invite you to join us at 3pm for the blessing of the Divine mercy image and other spiritual activities to mark this day.

Damos gracias a Dios por la bendición de poder celebrar una vez más la Pascua, un tiempo en el que conmemoramos el triunfo de nuestro Señor sobre la muerte. Una victoria que nos allanó el camino para reconciliarnos con Dios, nuestro Padre amoroso, y nos devolvió a la justicia. Fue la resurrección de Jesús y sus numerosas apariciones ante varios de sus discípulos lo que les dio esperanza, les infundió valor para reagruparse y volver a comprometerse con la proclamación valiente y gozosa del Evangelio tras recibir el Espíritu Santo en Pentecostés. Al igual que la Iglesia primitiva, oramos para que el poder transformador de la resurrección reavive en nosotros el fuego del Espíritu Santo. Que nos impulse a cumplir el mandato fundamental que Cristo nos transmitió a través de los apóstoles: ir por todo el mundo y hacer discípulos de todas las naciones. Si nuestra fe ha decaído o ha permanecido tibia en los últimos tiempos, que experimente un renacimiento radical provocado por el poder transformador de la resurrección. Nuestra parroquia quiere que sepan que la maravillosa experiencia de Pascua que hemos vivido habría sido menos memorable sin su amable ayuda. Si conociste a alguien que vino a San Benito por primera vez o por primera vez después de mucho tiempo, por favor, invítale a volver y anímale a responder a las necesidades de nuestra querida parroquia de San Benito ofreciéndose como voluntario en uno o más ministerios de su elección. Si estabas de visita en nuestra parroquia, nos gustaría que supieras que nos sentimos bendecidos por tu presencia y nos gustaría darte la bienvenida una y otra vez.
Tras el Domingo de Pascua se celebra la fiesta de la Divina Misericordia, que desde el año 2000 se celebra el segundo domingo de Pascua para completar la octava de Pascua. Sabemos que la Pascua es la fiesta más importante del calendario cristiano. Por este motivo, la Pascua se celebra durante ocho días consecutivos, y la octava se completa con la celebración del Domingo de la Divina Misericordia. Esta fiesta fue incluida en el calendario litúrgico por el santo papa Juan Pablo II el 30 de marzo de 2000, con motivo de la canonización de santa Faustina Kowalska, una monja polaca que recibió revelaciones extraordinarias del Señor sobre su misericordia. En uno de los mensajes, Jesús prometió que en este domingo «el alma que se confiese y reciba la Sagrada Comunión obtendrá el perdón completo de los pecados y del castigo». En este día, la Iglesia nos invita a reflexionar sobre la inmensidad de la misericordia de Dios, a buscarla y a aprender a ser misericordiosos con los demás a través de nuestras palabras, pensamientos y acciones. Divine Mercy Novena
Join us in saying the Divine Mercy novena each day this week, at 3 pm in the parish Chapel, with the last day being Saturday, April 11.
Jesus told St. Faustina that Divine Mercy, the feast of mercy, would be a very special day when “all divine floodgates through which graces flow are opened.” (Diary 699) Jesus asked that the Feast of the Divine Mercy be preceded by a special novena of which there is an intention to pray about on each day.

All are welcome to come to the Legion of Mary meeting on Wednesdays at 5:30 pm in the church Bridal Room, upstairs.
The mission of the Legion of Mary is to lead souls to Christ. We are a spiritual ministry, supporting individuals and families in our community who are seeking a closer relationship to God. Our motto is, “In Jesus, Through Mary.” All things are to follow Him and glorify God, with Mary as our guide. Mary shows us how to be humble in spirit, doing all things in love, and giving all glory to God. We hope you will join us.
