I would like to make a correction on the April 24 Weekend Memo regarding the Pastor-Principal dinner.  My heartfelt apologies to Jennie Tighe for the omission. Jennie was instrumental in putting together the Pastor-Principal dinner alongside Karen Ahearne. Jennie and Karen led a wonderful team of parish volunteers to ensure no detail was missed. Thank you Jennie for all you do for this community. Please accept my apologies.

I would also like to express my sincere apologies to Marilyn Johnston for giving her a different last name. Thank you for your understanding.

Me gustaría hacer una corrección en el «Weekend Memo» del 24 de abril en relación con la cena del párroco y el director. Mis más sinceras disculpas a Jennie Tighe por este descuido. Jennie desempeñó un papel fundamental en la organización de la cena del párroco y el director junto con Karen Ahearne. Jennie y Karen dirigieron un maravilloso equipo de voluntarios de la parroquia para garantizar que no se pasara por alto ningún detalle. Gracias, Jennie, por todo lo que haces por esta comunidad. Por favor, acepta mis disculpas.

Dear Brethren,

I would like to thank Sr. Novie along with Sr. Liza, Sr. Merced, Erin Fish and the team of catechists for the wonderful mass celebrating the Sacraments of Confirmation and First Holy Communion this past Saturday.  I am pleased that 68 candidates received their sacraments on that day.  I thank them, their sponsors and families for their commitment in completing all the requirements to receive the sacraments.  We were honored to have Fr. James Aboyi preside over the mass at the request of Bishop John Dolan.  Thank you to all of you who helped in any way to make this day truly special.

On Tuesday, we held the annual Pastor-Principal dinner for the St. John Bosco graduating class and their parents.  It was truly a special evening as this is a group of kids whose growth I have witnessed. On behalf of the SJB Principal, Mrs. Bescak, my heartfelt thanks to the volunteers from St. Benedict who put the event together led by Karen Ahearne and Jennie Tighe.  Thank you to Jim Tighe, Marilyn Johnston, Anna Howard, Chris Smith, Steve and Sue Sheard, Gayle Siewert, Gerrie Sferra, Lani Gore, Joe and Lisa Liddy.

I would like to thank Keith Call for the work he did at St. Benedict. Keith is no longer a member of the parish staff.  Please direct any questions in the interim to Maryola Fabilena as a search is now underway for a parish manager. I am grateful to Keith for his love and care for this parish.  Myself, Fr. Emmanuel and the parish staff wish him well.

I invite everyone to join us next Friday, May 1st for the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament which shall start at the conclusion of the daily mass. Adoration will be in the chapel as usual and at 5:45 pm, we shall process from the Chapel to the church for Evening Prayers and Benediction.  The evening and prayers and benediction will move to the church to allow for more room.  We have filled the chapel in the past and I hope we can fill the church too.

Me gustaría dar las gracias a la hermana Novie, junto con la hermana Liza, la hermana Merced, Erin Fish y el equipo de catequistas, por la maravillosa misa celebrada el pasado sábado con motivo de los sacramentos de la Confirmación y la Primera Comunión. Me complace que 68 candidatos recibieran los sacramentos ese día.  Les doy las gracias a ellos, a sus padrinos y a sus familias por su compromiso al cumplir con todos los requisitos para recibir los sacramentos.  Tuvimos el honor de que el P. James Aboyi presidiera la misa a petición del obispo John Dolan. Gracias a todos los que ayudaron de alguna manera a que este día fuera verdaderamente especial.

El martes celebramos la cena anual del párroco y la directora para la promoción de St. John Bosco y sus padres. Fue una velada verdaderamente especial, ya que se trata de un grupo de chicos cuyo crecimiento he podido presenciar. En nombre de la directora de SJB, la Sra. Bescak, mi más sincero agradecimiento a los voluntarios de St. Benedict que organizaron el evento, liderados por Karen Ahearne. Gracias a Jim y Jennie Tighe, Marilyn Smith, Anna Howard, Chris Smith, Steve y Sue Sheard, Gayle Siewert, Gerrie Sferra, Lani Gore, Joe y Lisa Liddy.

Me gustaría dar las gracias a Keith Call por el trabajo que ha realizado en San Benito. Keith ya no forma parte del personal de la parroquia. Mientras tanto, por favor, dirijan cualquier consulta a Maryola Fabilena, ya que actualmente se está buscando un administrador para la parroquia. Agradezco a Keith el cariño y la dedicación que ha mostrado hacia esta parroquia. Tanto yo como el P. Emmanuel y el personal de la parroquia le deseamos lo mejor.

Invito a todos a que se unan a nosotros el próximo viernes, 1 de mayo, para la adoración del Santísimo Sacramento, que comenzará al término de la misa diaria. La adoración tendrá lugar en la capilla, como de costumbre, y a las 17:45 h nos dirigiremos en procesión desde la capilla hasta la iglesia para las oraciones vespertinas y la bendición. Las oraciones vespertinas y la bendición se celebrarán en la iglesia para disponer de más espacio.  En otras ocasiones hemos llenado la capilla y espero que podamos llenar también la iglesia.
