On behalf of the Via Christi Society, Fr. Emmanuel and I would like to thank you sincerely for your kindness and generosity. At the end of May we appealed to you to support the society we belong to and its mission. You responded in ways we lack the words of gratitude for.
As of this week, we collected $12,670.25 through St. Benedict (Cash, Checks and Realm) and $1,720.00 directly to VIa Christi (QR code). In total, St. Benedict parishioners have donated $14,390.25!
The funds collected will be allocated to support the following initiatives:
Seminarians' Tuition and Formation
Priests Ongoing Formation
High School Multipurpose Hall
High School Girls' Hostel
Angus Fraser Nursery and Primary School
Thank you for believing in our mission and for your partnership in ensuring we can continue to serve the people of God.
Support for Venezuela
In solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Venezuela who have suffered tremendously, please let us join the rest of the world in praying for them through the intercession of Our Lady of Coromoto. The Diocese of Phoenix is supporting Venezuela through a special collection throughout the month of July. Please consider making a gift that will help provide emergency shelter, food, safe water, and essential care.

Feast of St. Benedict and Anointing Mass
On Saturday, July 11, we shall celebrate the feast of our beloved St. Benedict with an Anointing Mass at 11:00 am. We honor St. Benedict through this special mass which is meant to bring spiritual and physical healing, comfort, and peace to all who are in need of it.
The Rule of St. Benedict includes a mandate on care for the sick "Care of the sick must rank above and before all else, so that they may truly be served as Christ, for He said: I was sick and you visited me (Matt 25:36)."
I invite you to join us and let us together experience the grace and peace of Christ through the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick.

En nombre de la Sociedad Via Christi, el padre Emmanuel y yo queremos daros las gracias de todo corazón por vuestra amabilidad y generosidad. A finales de mayo os pedimos que apoyaseis a la sociedad a la que pertenecemos y su misión. Vuestra respuesta ha sido tal que nos faltan palabras para expresaros nuestra gratitud.
Hasta esta semana, hemos recaudado 12.670,25 dólares a través de San Benito (en efectivo, cheques y Realm) y 1.720,00 dólares directamente a Via Christi (código QR). En total, los feligreses de San Benito han donado 14.390,25 dólares.
Los fondos recaudados se destinarán a apoyar las siguientes iniciativas:

Formación continua de los sacerdotes
Sala polivalente del instituto
Residencia para alumnas del instituto

La Diócesis de Phoenix está apoyando a Venezuela mediante una colecta especial durante todo el mes de julio. Por favor, considere hacer una donación que ayude a proporcionar refugio de emergencia, alimentos, agua potable y atención básica.

Fiesta de San Benito y Misa de la Unción
El sábado 11 de julio celebraremos la fiesta de nuestro querido San Benito con una Misa de la Unción a las 11:00 h. Honramos a San Benito a través de esta misa especial, cuyo objetivo es llevar sanación espiritual y física, consuelo y paz a todos aquellos que lo necesiten.
La Regla de San Benito incluye un mandato sobre el cuidado de los enfermos: «El cuidado de los enfermos debe tener prioridad sobre todo lo demás, para que sean verdaderamente atendidos como a Cristo, pues Él dijo: “Estaba enfermo y me visitasteis” (Mateo 25, 36)».
Os invito a uniros a nosotros para que, juntos, experimentemos la gracia y la paz de Cristo a través del sacramento de la Unción de los Enfermos.
Por favor, sé amable y que Dios te bendiga.

Summertime Office Hours
During the summer the parish office hours change to accommodate the higher temperatures, parishioners being out of town, etc.
In July the parish office will be closed on Fridays. Morning Mass will still be celebrated at 8:15 am. The remainder of the week will have the usual office hours of 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
For an emergency needing a priest, please call 480.961.1610 ext. 317.

Registration for all religious education programs at St. Benedict has begun on the parish website. The programs available include Journey of Faith, Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, Liturgy of the Word With Children (at the 9 am Sunday Mass), and LifeTeen (for both middle and high school students).

St. Benedict Feast Day
Saturday, July 11 is the feast day for our very own St. Benedict. Join us for a special Anointing Mass at 11:00 am. Like the St. Benedict medal that will be distributed, this anointing Mass is about healing...physical, emotional and spiritual. If you would like to attend, please RSVP with Amy in the parish office.

Employment Opportunity at SJB
St. John Bosco School has an opening for a full-time Campus Security Monitor. This position is for a responsible and observant individual to help maintain a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors. Responsibilities include monitoring campus activity, patrolling school grounds, and assisting in the implementation of school safety protocols. Last week of the parish Water Drive, St. Benedict parishioners donated 34 cases of water! We are so grateful for everyone making this sacrifice for our brothers and sisters in need.
Each week the SVdP Water Truck stops by and picks up all the donations and distributes them to the homeless on the streets and to the St. Vincent de Paul dining halls. Thank you for bringing your much-appreciated donations of water to the parish lobby before Mass or anytime during office hours throughout the summer.
