Dear Friends,
Deacons Sunday! This weekend is dedicated to celebrating the Diaconate ministry, an essential order and ministry in the Catholic Church. The ministry of Deacons has its roots in both Scripture and the Sacred Tradition of the Church.
According to Acts of the Apostles Chapter 6, in order to ensure that the Apostles focused on preaching the Gospel, 7 men were chosen from among the community of believers and the Apostles laid hands on them to ordain them to the ministry of service to the Church. From that time to this day, the Holy Spirit has continued to bless the Church with Deacons who serve their brothers and sisters faithfully and selflessly.
Here at St. Benedict we have been blessed with three outstandingly good Deacons who are visibly an essential part of our parish life.
May I use this opportunity to express our eternal gratitude to Deacon Ed Winkelbauer and his wife Linda who, like a single person, have braved all challenges on the way to continue to offer our Parish leadership, inspiration and selfless service. There are many Parishioners who have mentioned to me that Deacon Ed and Linda are the “glue” that strengthens the unity we enjoy at St. Benedict.
We are grateful to Deacon J.C. Gonzalez and his wife Bernadette for their leadership and faithful service at St. Benedict especially with the Hispanic community.
I also extend the same gratitude to Deacon Joseph Ramos and his wife who recently joined our parish last year. They seamlessly integrated themselves into the life and mission of St. Benedict Parish and he has shown himself to be an outstanding homilist.
My gratitude would be incomplete without mentioning the support of Deacon Guillermo Castro and his wife, Silvia, who though yet to be assigned, have always been available to offer their services whenever the need arises.
Happy Deacons Sunday beloved co-workers in the vineyard of the Lord, long and faithfully may you continue to serve as we build the kingdom of God in our community.
Bravo Dear Knights of Columbus!
I wish to profoundly thank the Fr. Bob Binta Council of the Knights of Columbus for cleaning up the perimeter of our parish and doing the landscaping at no cost to the parish. I am grateful to all who turned up and worked tirelessly in the Arizona heat to give our beautiful Parish a better look. May God bless all of you and continue to strengthen you in Charity, unity and fraternity.
Please be kind and may God Bless you.

Queridos amigos,
